in all the forumotion forums I have seen that three column layout eems jerky when using IE (even IE9). Forumotion had implemented a fix for this specific layout but seems not working

you see the error when the toggle script is pressed hidden. Compare it with firefox (& others).

I attempted to hide the left panel the default way

      if ( $.browser.msie ) {

$('#forum-widget').css({display: 'none'});  //removes toggle script arrow
$('#left').css({width: '0px'});  //removes panel
}

the result in IE9 is

is there any proper class/id to replace #left, have tried also with the .panel-left but no success. Suggestions would be appreciated

All forumotion boards use a META tag that tells IE9 to render pages in IE8 mode.

And on the post compose page, all forumotion boards use a META tag that tells IE8 and IE9 to render pages in IE7 mode.

I have been complaining about this for the better part of a year. It is beyond stupid for eToxic to keep IE9 users from accessing the full features of their browser, in order to support a couple BBcode tags that no one uses...

#right and #left are the elements for the right and left widgets, respectively.

And FYI, to turn them off, use display:none as opposed to width:0px.
