The posts as well are weird, they're completely off topic! How would we stop such spam without disabling registration/admin authorisation?

You should enable the Q&A plugin in Spambot Countermeasures, and come up with a "question" that can't be answered by using a Google search.

How would I make one similiar to yours? I've tried and it won't show the question only: This question is a means of preventing automated form submissions by spambots.

Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense to annouce to spambots that the field is a spambot countermeasure. You must edit the captcha_qa.html template to remove the worthless description. Find this line:

	<dt><label>{QA_CONFIRM_QUESTION}:</label><br /><span>{L_CONFIRM_QUESTION_EXPLAIN}</span></dt>

Change it to:

	<dt><label>{QA_CONFIRM_QUESTION}:</label></dt>

And while you're editing the template, I'd suggest deleting this line as well:

	<h3>{L_CONFIRMATION}</h3>

There's no need to have a title for the countermeasure!

It looks fine, but...do you think the text string might be a little too long? :P

Here's a tip to fix the white color bleeding through the corners. First, save a backup copy of your current stylesheet.css because you never know when you might need to restore your CSS. Next, go into your CSS, and locate all the rules which look like this:

span.corners-top {background-image: url(something)}
span.corners-top span {background-image: url(something)}
span.corners-bottom {background-image: url(something)}
span.corners-bottom span {background-image: url(something)}

Delete every rule you find. Important: do NOT delete all span.corners-top/bottom rules -- ONLY those which define a background image.

Now, add the following rule to your CSS:

.post, .panel {border-radius: 5px}

That should fix the bleed-though colors, and add proper rounded corners to most elements.

I don't know why they don't update prosilver style, something like that must be 5 years of age.

There is going to be a minimal update to the Prosilver style when phpBB3.1 is released. But only minimal...it will still have the same dated look, but will have some AJAX lightboxes for info mesages and confirm boxes. (The AJAX support on this board is vastly superior!) You can see phpBB3.1 by going to the phpBB area51 board.

It's absolutely amazing how in the end, ultimately everything is about the money. It's sad to see phpBB moving this direction. I hope that the phpBB team is able to see that if they screw phpBB 3.1 up, they may lose lots of their users. phpBB is popular enough that it shouldn't be what it currently is; the Dion Designs board is what phpBB should be.

My post #8 is over a year old, and everything I said in it is still true. Some progress has been made in end-user features (an ugly-though-functional notification system being the big addition), but it's still the same dated design with the same barely-usable admin control panel.

You know, at the time I wrote post #8, I had thought phpBB3.1 would be released by now. The fact that it's still several months (at least) from release is disappointing.
