Append the following to the end of the name of every rank:

<img src="/_.gif" onload="dD(this)">

And add the following to the top of any javascript file that is set to "In all the pages":

function dD(elem) {

    var x=elem.parentNode;
    x.parentNode.removeChild(x.nextSibling);
    x.removeChild(elem);
}

This will remove the empty element causing the gap. I know this will work on phpBB3 and IPB2/Invision boards, and I'm pretty sure it will also work on PunBB boards. And if not, it can be easily modified to work on PunBB boards.

I really hope that everyone figures out just how powerful this simple technique can be. If not, just ask...because this was one of the test scripts I had planned to post in this forum!

Here's the rank I created as a demonstration for the original Ego-One more than two years ago. It shows what is possible if you think outside the box. (I've had that motto for quite some time. :D ) The first code box is the rank, the second is the function you should add to a current script set to "In all the pages":

<img src="/_.gif" onload="dionrank(this)">

function dionrank(elem) {

    elem.parentNode.innerHTML='<div style="margin:5px 0;padding:5px;background:#eee;border:1px outset#ccc"><div style="height:40px;line-height:40px;text-align:center"><img style="cursor:pointer;padding-right:20px;vertical-align:top" src="/users/2513/83/49/59/smiles/85320.gif" onclick="$(this.parentNode.nextSibling).slideToggle()"><span style="font-size:13px"><b><font color=#ff0000>R</font><font color=#00ff00>G</font><font color=#0000ff>B</font><font color=#000000> T</font><font color=#ff0000>e</font><font color=#00ff00>s</font><font color=#0000ff>t</font></b></span></div><div style="display:block;background:#cde;padding:5px;text-align:justify;font-size:9px;line-height:12px;border: 1px outset #cdf"><img style="float:left;margin:0px 5px 5px 0px;position:relative;top:5px" src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png">This is a test rank. I created it to show how much is possible when one thinks outside the box. The only real limitations on forumotion boards are created by people who cannot think outside the box.<br><br>And speaking of boxes, you can click on the barfing smiley to toggle the display of this blue box. <b>Dion has spoken!</b></div></div>';
