A Better-Looking (to me!) Admin Control Panel [UPDATED]

I don't know about you, but the default ACP in phpBB3 looks, well, ugly. There is an unusual contrast scheme which makes me wonder whether its developer worked in a room with the lights off. :P At least for me, the ACP pages cause eyestrain which gets worse as the room brightness increases. In addition, due to the unusual contrast scheme, the "success" and "error" blocks have outright garish colors.

The attached ZIP file contains a replacement admin.css file, along with the phpBB3 logo used in the ACP starting with phpBB 3.0.11. The logo goes in the adm/images directory, and the replacement CSS goes in the adm/style directory. Once the files are in their proper locations, go to your ACP, and refresh the main page to activate the new CSS. You will notice an immediate difference!

I strongly suggest that you rename your current admin.css file to admin_old.css before adding the new CSS. In that way you can easily restore your old CSS should you not like the new look of the ACP.

If anyone decides to improve on this new CSS, I would appreciate your posting the changes here. Enjoy!

okay I want to adjust the CSS a bit.

In the "Sub section", like for "Quick Access" there's "Manage Users", when that (Manage Users) is selected, and then you hover over Manage Users again, I want it to change color. Where is the edit for that? I've tried looking for it, but I can't seem to find it :/

Find this block in the new admin.css:

#menu li#activemenu a span {
text-decoration: none;
font-weight: bold;
color: #000 !important;
background: transparent url("../images/arrow_right.gif") 0% 50% no-repeat;
}

Change it to:

#menu li#activemenu a span {
text-decoration: none;
font-weight: bold;
color: #000;
background: transparent url("../images/arrow_right.gif") 0% 50% no-repeat;
}

#menu li#activemenu a:hover span {
color: #a22;
}

Change the #a22 to the color of your choice.

That's by design. If you want to restore the resize capability, look for the following rule:

textarea {
font-size: 0.85em;
width: 60%;
padding: 2px;
resize: none;
}

And change it to this:

textarea {
font-size: 0.85em;
width: 60%;
padding: 2px;
}

Agreed, hard to decide at this time so used to the years of using the original, simple and easy to install easy to revert back to the original.

Thanks for the refreshing change to the APC.
